To My Daughter

8/21/2024

Eden Absar
Handwritten poem,

What do I say to the person
Who has changed everything
About who I am? Are there enough words

To translate the lub-dubbing
Of my heart?
I want to tell you so much,

And yet,
No words come to mind.
I will have to

Hope that you can one day
Know me. And know the story made of
The lives I’ve lived—they float in the stream connecting

My heart to yours. But now,
You are small and unaware,
Swimming in the pool of the womb.
